We could have fixed US Health Care system with all the thought and typing put into this conjecture filled thread.

One person says there is horrible lag on the same exact device someone else says, NOPE NO LAG HERE.

There has not been one benchmark or real life comparison put on the table.

CLOSE THIS ****TY THREAD ALREADY and MOVE IT OUT OF THE FORUM THAT HAS A DESCRIPTION OF "Only meant for software development and software issues."

Maybe it is more conjecture but Why I hate my Iphone has nothing to do with software development. Frankly it is getting in the way of real conversations with people who for BETTER OR WORSE use WM and HTC.

CLOSE THIS THREAD ALREADY.

A bit too much hostility?

Well, as much as I do love my Touch Pro, it has plenty of room to improve. There's nothing really wrong with a few guys saying why they think HTC f***ed them up.

I mean, honestly, video quality is GARBAGE. Yes, there are work arounds and sh*t, and I still do get reasonably sized videos for the quality/length, but I prefer NOT having to convert in the first place like I was lead to believe when I was first going to buy it. Wasn't there supposed to be some sort of fix coming from HTC/Coreplayer? And, seeing the small size of storage (16GB card for me, and yeah, it's puny) I like to play over the network and it's soo slow. That, and the battery life is terrible when you first get it (eventually I did adjust into some habits so I rarely ever get home with less than 10% anymore), but this type of stuff shouldn't happen with 3G/Data oriented phones - especially considering I don't have any Data connections enabled for those 10% days (usually dead when I get home if I DO use Wifi for more than 20 minutes). Underclocking/changing Radio's really helped a lot, but again, I shouldn't need to do these types of tweaks. These two are really the only two big problems that HTC should be slapped for. Next time I'm going to be more careful when getting a HTC Phone (or phone at all really).

As far as Apps go, I have used an iTouch (jailbroken) and there are SOME apps I wish I could get (offline Bus Schedule app, probably more if I looked more), but for the most part, there's nothing I need my PHONE to do that it can't. If I want to play games, it's probably cheaper/funner to get a modded Nintendo DS/PSP for a way longer battery life too. I do wish there were more WOW apps for the Touch (like Diamond Hologram), but this is directed more at XDA/other developers than the actual phone. I mean, I agree that there are more than enough skins and stuff, it's time to get apps to be better integrated with one another (GPS, Contacts, Facebook, etc. being well connected and working complimentary to each other so I don't need to copy paste from facebook to Google Maps/TomTom to find a house or something along these lines). Yeah, it's a step up from what most apps do, but more people not to start heading in this direction when making apps for phones.

As for Apple, I highly doubt I'd ever buy an Apple Product itself (well, pay for it anyways), but there are some things from it that some other mobile OS developers should pay attention to. For one, they know what areas of the phone they should focus more on, like a Huge, Low res screen. You might not be able to play super sexy videos on it, but the low res let's it be less laggy when using apps and stuff. I'd rather have a 4'' 480x320 screen that runs smoothly than a 2'' 1080p screen that kills my battery life and runs like a snail. Higher specs aren't always better.

Maybe HTC'll fix the problems in the future, but there are some pretty minor problems that cause HUGE drawbacks for me (and I'm sure others) and straight up if they fix the battery (not going to happen on this model unless I buy another, larger battery) and especially the problems with media (movies and occasionally some lag with audio - I use coreplayer because kinoma(free) won't play 1/2 my tracks and refuses to simple skip them instead of muting and making me wait track length for next track so I'd be happy with other suggestions) I'd keep hold onto this phone for years to come because it does everything I need (I do usually have to reset it due to Coreplayer related problems which piss me off).

I have a 8525 so I can't comment on the TPro problems. what I can say is HTC gets a bad rap for the processor problems. Qualcomm built a top notch processor then crippled it with ****ty drivers. Then when HTC offered to work on the drivers Qualcomm refused to allow them (Kaiser/Fuze) for a few different reasons I won't get into. A lot of this stemmed from the fact Qualcomm was in major court battles for patent infringements and pretty much only focused on that. HTC got screwed because they already were in a non breakable contract and had to continue using what they were paying for. Sounds a lot like the OP.

HTC sucks because they refuse to support their products. I noticed that with my Wizard and it truly soured me on them. They deserve to fail due to their customer service levels.

(Note: Regarding text being $5. Me saying $2 was a typo, thus why my total still came to $60 [40 + 15 + 5 = $60]. Sorry about that.)

Anyway, I see what you mean now. Searching around AT&T's website is a bit confusing and they have numerous different data plans just to maximize their profits in every potential area, so I had misread the potential cost.

Yea it is sort of confusing how they list it on there site, I thought Iwould be able to get the 15/month data plan too.
I think many will argue not the best out right now. For sure top 3 best out right now. Idk, i see them at least another year away from catching up with features they should have had when they first came out. Its just like anything really, first year or so of a totally new product is gonna be crap and defects and oh i forgot to add this or that kind of stuff. By a year from now iphone will be at the top or a thing of the past. I hope for any company to rank to the top, just want to get my moneys worth. Right now with iphone i dont see myself getting my moneys worth, especially with stupid att still trying to get mms service on it! If iphone really makes a difference by next year, ill more than likely get one. Again, only time will tell but at the moment, not incrediably impressed with the iphone, more hype then anything i think and trendy. People see my phone and theyre like, wtf is that? Sorry my phone doesnt have an app to wipe my a$$ but i can send/receive mms and copy and paste, haha!

I dont know what att is doing about a mms problem, but i do mms on my ipod touch with wifi. The way they setup copy+paste is pretty sweet, shoulda been there since the beginning but you could use the clippy app to fix it before the new os 3.0 update. I know that alot of the apps out are pointless but, and i know i said this before, if you take a look at all the useful ones you would be impressed, i use to think the same as you do about the apps until i got my ipod touch and looked into them, i used the redsn0w jailbreak and some other mods to allow cracked apps (appulo.us is a awesome site to get them). Cydia has all the unnaproved apps to fix any problems youve mentioned (or upgrade to 3.0 for free) and to customize the icons and change basically anything in the UI, if you wanna see how i have mine setup check this. There are alot of other themes that can change the setup of the UI also. 2 things that I hate abput iphone/ipod touch is non-removable battery and no sd slot.

The sim card is easily removable. You are half right about the battery, but for like 30 bucks you can send it to a number of different sites that will upgrade it. And fixing it when it crashes is as simple as loading up itunes and hitting restore. That was simple.

First of all, sorry for taking so long to reply - I was working like mad and didn't have time to check here. Ah, anyway...
OP: is it possible you got a bum phone? Do you know anyone else in Greece with a TP? do they all have these problems?

Well, dunno... The specs, from what I checked, are exactly the same as other TPs everywhere. The ROM is well known, custom-cooked by NRG. Some things do look strange, though. A poster said earlier that "he can takes notes quite fast" and posted a YouTube video. I have to wait to see the screen rotate when I open the keyboard, though in his video the change was almost instant...

Ah, and I guess the "start making something useful and stop just changing the same UI" has NOTHING to do with software development, right? The "changing the icons from blue to purple AIN'T software development" has NOTHING to do with this forum... Yeah, well... Part of my first post, and my problem with TP is that I don't see useful software that DOES SOMETHING NEW/DIFFERENT coming out. Now that I made it all caps, do you realize what exactly I mean? Appart from having a slow device I paid a fortune for, I see a lot of people calling themselves "developers" because they created a new theme. Last time I checked, drawing and changing graphics was called "graphic arts", not "programming". Here, let me give you an example...

The afformentioned iPhone happy friend of mine has an app in his iPhone called something along the lines of "Where is my car". It uses the phones GPS and/or accelerometer (dunno) and tracks how you moved, how far you walked, where you turned after starting it up. When you run it again, it shows you your moves backwards, so as to find your car. Yes, I know that it doesn't seem too useful to a lot of people (although to absent-minded individuals like me it IS useful), but hey, you've got to admit that it's something new and fresh. Not a Space Invaders clone with bad graphics and crappy controls that uses your phones accelerometer. But that's what we get for our TP. Could we have the first app? Yes, ofcourse. DO WE? Nope. The person that could create it (and make some money out of it, for I'd pay to buy it) was too occupied creating a new TouchFlo clock with yellowish tint, or something. Oh, the joy...

Then, turn your head and check out AudioNotes by ViTo. A respected company and a great app. One of the useful ones for our phones. Ah, yes, but have you checked the new, "touch" version? Its another case of "we give you something, but we take something back. Pay us."... It has a better interface than the previous version, but doesn't seem as... Well, my grasp of the English language seems to leave me... Ehm... As "rich" as the previous offering.

And for whom mentioned using the stylus, yeah, I have no problem with that. I mentioned "touch" a lot, not because of the iPhone and its "touch" application, but because of our phones NAME. Where's the "touch" in Touch Pro? It's another point where I felt betrayed by the device: slow video, slow keyboard, slow GPS (okay, last point maybe 'cause of the app I'm forced to use)... and no Touch. Ahrgh!

Anyways, that's enough of a rant for now. I'm gonna check another 2-3 ROMs (I guess in those 1-2 weeks that passed, NRG and co must have released 5-6 more ROMs), hoping that, at least, the... screen will turn arround faster! Thanks for all the coments and views guys (and gals?!).

Best regards
Ducklord

Ducklord - just admit you have IPhone envy. You should put your TPro up for sale and get an IP. To each his own. You must admit, yours seems slightly defected as it doesn't work nearly as fast as everyone elses. You may wanna get that checked out.
